Message You have different sensors in your car that allow it to remote start. First, you have the brain that controls the functions. It picks up your transmitter functions, also acts as starter kill. Then you have the relay pack for your remote start. The relays use I believe a 10 Gauge wires that connect to the ignition. You also have a couple of sensors for remote start. The brake sensor...it acts as a safety switch for remote start. If the brake is depressed the car won't start, also if the car starts and you pressed on the brakes, it kills the remote start. Then you have your neutral switch. In automatics, the neutral switch is your "P" or "N" on auto tranny. If you car is in any other gears, the car won't start. It acts as your safety feature so your car won't roll anywhere if it's in gear. You also have your hood switch. You can either use a mercury switch or a hood pin, either one works fine, but I prefer the mercury switch, mainly because after a couple of years, the hood pin will rust and mercury switch won't. If your hood is up, the car won't start either. There's also a tach wire. It has to be connected for remote starting your car. If it's not connected, the car will keep cranking itself, but as soon as it starts, it will kill itself and crank up again because it's not sensing the tach. Those are the basics as far as remote start connection goes.

Now on the manual transmission cars, since there's not "P" and "N" on those cars, your neutral switch would be your clutch. You connect the neutral switch to the clutch sensor and you have to splice the clutch sensor wires together. Now when you do that, you won't have to press in your clutch to start your car. MAKE SURE YOU DON"T LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR. I never leave mine in gear so I put a remote start on it, if you leave it in gear even occasionally, then DON'T even bother putting remote start on your car, or it will keep rolling and jumping (even with e-brake on) and you'll end up hitting somone.

So here's a recap: The hood has to be closed, car has to be in park or neutral, brake not depressed, tach hooked up and of course the relays hooked up to the brain and as well as the ignition and your car will start. The doors don't have to be close or open for it to start either.

So those are the basics for remote start. If you guys have any more questions, feel free.
